Village Photographs - Past and Present

It is believed that the older photographs were taken about 1936 by person(s) unknown. The recent photographs were taken by Chris Rushton during April 2002, unless otherwise stated.

Coming from Kirkcaldy, you have Milton Bank on the left. On the right hand side what used to be Victoria House has disappeared and now has the entrance (roughly) to Moray Court in its stead. The end of the Kiwi Tavern can just be seen at the top of both pictures.
Looking towards Lochgelly. The cottages on the right hand side of the older picture have been replaced by Camilla Nursing Home (once a hotel). Note the wall has disappeared from the first cottage on the left and the extra storey on the second cottage.
Looking away from Lochgelly. The cottages on the right have completely disappeared and have been replaced by new buildings and the entrance to The Maltings. The cottages at the top of the old photograph have gone, to be replaced by Camilla Nursing Home.
Looking towards Kirkcaldy. In the left hand photograph Victoria House can be seen on the left and The Coach & Horses on the right. In the right hand photograph Victoria House has gone and the pub, now called The Kiwi Tavern, on the right.
Auchtertool House, I believe, used to be owned by the Auchtertool Distillery owners.  Have a look at some of the ceilings of Auchtertool House. The Manse is now in private hands.
